What is EMDR Consultation with an Approved Consultant?
Congratulations, therapist, on making it through EMDR basic training! One of the next steps towards EMDRIA certification is 20 hours of Clinical Consultation. Clinical consultation is a space where we can explore, reflect, and consider treatment options for clients through the format of EMDR. It’s also a place for us to nerd out and develop our skills. As an approved Consultant, I can offer 20 hours of consultation towards your certification.
Why should we work together?
I am a certified EMDR therapist and EMDRIA Approved EMDR Consultant who has been practicing EMDR since 2018. Within EMDR, I specialize in working with somatic presentations of trauma, anxiety, and OCD. This might look like dissociation, chronic pain, difficulty sleeping, panic attacks, eating problems, intrusive thoughts and rumination, bathroom accidents… any sign that a body is saying, “Hey! Something’s not right!” I’m particularly skilled at helping people who have never felt safe to figure out how to develop a safe connection with their body. With this speciality and my training as a Marriage and Family Therapist, it also makes sense that I do some of my best work with children and with people who experienced challenging childhoods.
I have additional training in the following modalities within EMDR and am happy to discuss them with you: Somatic-Focused EMDR, Progressive Approach, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed EMDR, FLASH Technique, Sandtray, Play & Art Therapy, and Systemic Approaches.
Visit my about me page to learn a bit more about me generally, including my history working with folks in the context of domestic violence and difficult immigration histories.
I’m available to work with therapists nationally through telehealth and in-person at my Havertown, PA office.

What does EMDR Consultation for Certification look like?
EMDR Consultation for Certification at Oak Grove Counseling, LLC is an hour of feedback focusing on you, your clients, and your work- with the added benefit of counting towards your EMDRIA certification goals. We will review presentation forms, treatment ideas, and audio, video, or near-verbatim transcripts. I’ll support your development as an EMDR provider while you bring your clients closer to their treatment goals. We’ll make sure you are clear on the standard application of EMDR therapy and the AIP model, and then we’ll work together to get creative and bring your personality and interests as a clinician into te model to better support clients’ needs with empirically supported interventions. Before we get going, we’ll develop a learning contract and make sure we’re set up to meet your needs. Please note that EMDR consultation is not a substitute for clinical supervision if you are a pre-licensed therapist.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Triadic supervision, or meetings with two clinicians + me, is offered within the one hour meeting format. Group meetings are a wonderful way to enhance your learning, build community, and gain exposure to ideas outside of your niche. Triadic supervision would consist of you + a colleague + me and we would split session time discussing cases for both of you. I ask you to reach out as a unit, if this is the option that works best for you

What does Open EMDR Consultation look like?
Open Group EMDR Consultation is a great, affordable way, to continue your EMDR learning after certification, or if you are not pursuing certification. Whatever the reason, if you are a clinician who wants to continue to hone your craft for the benefit of you and your clients, this group is for you! In these groups up to three therapists (plus me) will discuss clinical cases and other professional development concerns. We will split the time evenly between the three consultees or collaborate to identify topics we’d like to spend a bit longer discussing. I use post-modern frames and integrative therapy modalities for my therapy work, so you can expect doses of Somatic Experiencing, Narrative Therapy, parts-work, Solution Focused Therapy, play therapy, and up-to-date psychoeducation to make the work accessible to your clients. We’ll use our time wisely and consider the developmental impact of trauma as well as current presentations of trauma, and how to help clients live more fully in the present.
These groups meet on the 3rd Friday of each month.
What happens if I’m the only one who signs up for an hour?
You get a nice deal on an individual session!
