Neurodiversity: ADHD, Autism & Giftedness
Neurodiversity, including ADHD, Autism, and Giftedness (or any combination thereof) sets us up for unique challenges. Struggles with boredom, physically painful emotions, social dynamics, feelings of pressure, unease, or discomfort that are hard to get to the root of. Neurodiversity is not the excuse, it is the reason. We work with you, not against you, to get to unexpectedly delightful outcomes.
-
Therapy starts with getting to know you and your successes. We spend time with your special interests. We ask what is working and what needs improvement? We take a curious eye to your day to day life and figure out where we can better meet sensory, communication, and learning needs. We experiment with executive function skills based on your brain and your life. We collaborate to consider what self-advocacy looks like for you. We may bring in family or friends to learn together. The goal is realistic empowerment and acknowledgement of disability, not magical thinking.

Your outward presentation says you have it all together; the world thinks life is easy for you. Inside, you are working hard to keep afloat. Common issues include imposter syndrome, loneliness, burnout, fatigue, and disconnection from important things like hunger and tiredness cues. You might always be looking for approval from others, or struggle to take compliments. You might be on top of the world, but it’s a struggle to enjoy where you are.
-
We will use your successes, skills, and points of pride to build a solid foundation of self awareness and appreciation, so that we can address underlying drives (such as self-doubt), so that you can be happy, present, psychologically flexible, and confident.

Binging Behaviors
The cycle looks like this: you’re doing great, really on your A-game and not indulging. And then, you start to indulge in that thing (you know, the thing you really don’t want to do too much of anymore), and…. you can’t stop. The next day you feel awful in your body and awful about yourself. The cycle keeps you on your toes- you think it’s really gone this time and then- BAM!- it’s back. And you don’t like yourself very much. We can do deep work to change they way you engage with this cycle, and how you think about yourself.
-
We work collaboratively to observe patterns with curiosity, kindness, and a scientific mind. We don’t accept excuses, but we do get to know reasons. And when we find those reasons, we address them at their root. This means cycles change and you can live a life in balance and harmony, instead of at extremes.

Chronic Illness & Pain
Living with chronic illness and pain often means being your own best advocate, scientific researcher, treatment team manager at once. These huge jobs generate a lot of stress, which makes our diagnoses flare. Your diagnosis has a big impact on your life, and, at the same time, it’s really only a part of who you are and your life story. It is possible to live fully with illness and pain.
-
As a disabled therapist, I provide disability-affirming care to individuals and families. Here, your self-expertise is respected and valued. We work with your experience and nervous system to build a felt sense of safety, making space for you to renew energy and participate in a life you love.

Challenging Childhoods
It’s not easy being a kid. And it’s not easy being an adult who feels like their childhood experiences refuse to stay in the past, impacting their relationships, self-concept, and decision making. Whether the tough childhood in question has already happened, or you are an adult looking to help a child currently going through a difficult time, therapy can help.
-
I specialize in treating childhood trauma through integrative therapy practices including EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, and I utilize the theory of Structural Dissociation of Parts (parts-work). Trauma in childhood requires comprehensive therapy treatment: it impacts our body, nervous system, and sense of self. We will work together to help you establish a felt sense of safety in the present day, in your body, within yourself, so that you can live fully in the present.

Creating something from nothing, by yourself or with others, is magical. It’s also hard work, grit, and dedication. Many creative people and artists can struggle with artist’s block, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism. Suffering isn’t necessary to make great art.

Artists
Creating something from nothing, by yourself or with others, is magical. It’s also hard work, sweat, and dedication. Many creative people and artists can struggle with artist’s block, imposter syndrome, and perfectionism. Suffering isn’t necessary to make great art. I work with visual artists, dancers, writers, and musicians to help them move through, and past, stuck points and self-doubt and into more flow in their creative practices.
-
The goal is to help you get to know your process in a new way, to deepen your connection to what drew you to your art form in the first place, or, find new, healthy ways to be an artist, if you’ve outgrown your old narrative.

Caregivers, Teachers & Parents
Your job is tough: emotional labor requires creativity, connection, openness, and seemingly endless energy. Caregivers, teachers, and parents often struggle with feeling burnt out by the work, and people, they love. I work with caregivers, teachers, and parents to help them build sustainable change, to improve their quality of life, and to reconnect with themselves.
-
You don’t want to give up on your caregiving role, you want to find a way to make it work. I collaborate with you to identify ways to sustain your energy, reduce burnout, access resources, and say no or ask for help in a way that feels right to you and matches your values.

Trauma & Complex Trauma
Trauma changes the way we understand ourselves, our history, and the world around us. Sometimes trauma comes from one distinct event. Very often, trauma responses develop because you’ve experienced a series of adverse events over a longer period of time. Too much, too soon, too little. Emotional neglect, unmet needs, unidentified neurodiversity, and chronic exposure to stressors- even those in our own body- create ripple effects through our lives. Healing from trauma is possible.
-
Meg Rogers, LMFT specializes in trauma-informed and holistic approaches to treatment that integrate parts work, somatic therapies (such as Somatic Experiencing), and EMDR with practical changes that build your confidence, capacity, and ability to be present in your life. First, we build a felt sense of safety in your own body. From there, we can do almost anything.
